Panama City on a hot and hazy day.

In the foreground is the Amador Causeway that connects three islands formed by spoil from the canal construction. Together the causeway and islands form a breakwater that controls the Pacific tidal bore and protects the main channel of the canal from silting.

Today on islands at either end of the causeway are hotels, restaurants, marinas, and parks. We anchored for the night between the causeway and the city in the Bay of Panama, and used tenders to go ashore the next day.
