The Culebra (Gaillard) Cut through the Continental Divide, with Centennial Bridge. This is looking back into the cut as we are about to enter the Pedro Miguel lock.

This cut is where most of the problems arose. Constant earth slides repeatedly wiped out days of work, and buried equipment and people. Even today it is being widened and is constantly being dredged.
