We have resumed our travels and moved to the outskirts of Santa Fe. The picture is our current campsite on a hill (I guess here called a mesa, overlooking the city of Santa Fe and the still snow-capped Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the distance).

Ed returned yesterday afternoon after a flying trip to New Jersey for his mother's funeral--and a surprise funeral for his uncle. A few hours after his mother died, her 91-year old brother died of heart failure (he did not know his sister had died). So on Thursday, Ed buried his mother and on Friday he went to his uncle's funeral as well. All in all, a stressful and emotional two days. But both lived long and good lives and both believed in a life everlasting. We really should celebrate the life of 90-year old people and recognize their accomplishments, and only grieve because we the living will miss them.

Karen stayed in Albuquerque and kept herself busy to keep from getting too down in the dumps. She did all the laundry, thoroughly cleaned the camper, shopped for a few items we needed, as well as a major load of groceries, plus she got her hair done and bought a few things for herself, and she got Charley bathed and trimmed. So both my traveling companions have new hairdos! She did alright.

Until now we have indeed been a bit preoccupied with the sad news from New Jersey. But we are resolved to begin anew and enjoy not only the trip, but the graduation of our grandniece from college and the attendant family celebration. As Ed's Mom would have wanted, we now begin again.
