Taken through the windshield as we crossed Hoover Dam yesterday. This is a new bridge under construction just south of the dam, that will alleviate a traffic bottleneck (note line of cars) and also ease various security measures. And it will have a spectacular view of the dam. We (and everyone else) were stopped about 10 miles before crossing the dam by federal officers for a security check. Most cars were given a quick visual and let through, but campers and private trucks (no commercial vehicles allowed) are actually opened and searched for bombs. We had our camper checked out by a retired deputy sheriff from Cape May, New Jersey, who came to Arizona to retire, then got a second job working for Homeland Security.

Hadn't seen the new bridge. Indeed it will be a help. This is still not Summer yet, so you can imagine the backup in July! Don't think anyone even conceived the traffic volume when the original dam was built. - Jon
