Sault Ste. Marie KOA Campground
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Tuesday, September 9, 2008, 5:30pm Eastern Time

A mix of sun and clouds, with intermittent showers, throughout the day;  temps both sides of 60F, but starting out at 41F in Thunder Bay at 7 am.  Right now it's 59F and mostly cloudy.
Altitude:  275 meters

A long day driving around the north shore of Lake Superior, something we did in the other direction in 2004. Lots of pretty views of Gitchie Gummi (see picture) and lots of trees and the occasional small town (with either a mine or wood products plant);  also a lot of long haul truckers on the road (many more trucks than cars) and a few construction zones where he had to wait for single lane traffic patterns.  But traffic was never heavy and the delays were minimal, and if anyone was holding up traffic, it was us!

We remembered the KOA in Sault Ste. Marie as being one of the nicest ones from 2004, so we aimed for it today, and after over 700 kms and  8 and a half hours, we made it (other picture).  Tomorrow we'll try to reach the Ottawa Valley, east of North Bay, Ontario, and probably stay in the Adirondacks the night after that.  If we can keep to that schedule, we should be home Friday.

All is well.
