West Yellowstone KOA Campground
West Yellowstone, Montana
August 9th, 2008, 2:15 pm Mountain Time

Sunny, breezy, and warm, temperature 81F
Altitude: 6,644 feet

We left Yellowstone Park this morning, drove slowly through the western part of the park, stopped to see Old Faithful, and are now camped just west of the town of West Yellowstone, where we have full internet service. We did this to get a jump on tomorrow's full day of driving into central Montana. Our plan is to dry camp in a Lewis and Clark National Forest Service campground in the Little Belt Mountains tomorrow and maybe the next night too, so we will again be out of internet range. After tonight, our next planned stay in an internet-serviced campground will be next Wednesday, August 13th. The picture is of the Madison River just before it flows out of Yellowstone Park on its way to a rendezvous with the Jefferson and the Gallatin to form the mighty Missouri at Three Forks, Montana.
